Sitzendorf - the location and natural environment
Who is approaching from the north-westen direction will see the village first from the Sommerberg. A bench on the lower Sommerberg-trail, above the graveyard and the train rails, has on overwhelming panoramic view to offer: You can see the whole village, the surrounding valleys and the green heights covered with trees reaching out for more than 700 meters. This first glance is impressing and will an unforgettable memory. The guest will notice that the village spreads along the river Schwarza and follows a street which is leading the traffic through the Schwarza-valley.
The main colore in Sitzendorf is green. The estates look very cosy and you can find even halftimber houses. In the middle of the village the premises excelled by a high chimney are the main impression for the visitor: this ist the Sitzendorfer porcelain manufactury. The village ist located between the Thuringian Forest and the Thuringian Slate Mountains: they are linked to the Thuringian Forest in south-eastern direction.
